Get ready to soak up the impressive views of the Torre massif and the stunning scenery surrounding Torre Lagoon; while we trek through this impeccable work of art designed by nature.
The path we’ll traverse will take us through different landscapes which make up gorgeous natural settings; ranging from glacially-formed valleys, to lush and dense forests. Our trekking adventure will ultimately bring us to the spectacular Laguna Torre (Torre Lagoon), with its scenic backdrop featuring mighty Mount Solo, and coupled with the impressive views of the Torre massif, making this an unforgettable trekking experience, with plenty of panoramic viewpoints to quench your photographic thirst, as you create some of those precious memories you’ll take back home.
Our experience begins as we go from El Chalten to the Laguna Torre footpath; and after a short trek we’ll enter a small ñire and lenga forest. We’ll continue our ascent, on this path, as we move up in elevation and come alongside the Fitz Roy River. This serpentine body of water meets up with the stunning scenery that is the river canyon. About one hour later we’ll arrive at Mount Torre viewpoint, where we’ll enjoy the most magnificent views of this towering mountainous range; stopping for a while to take in the sublime vistas.
We’ll then set off on a 2-hour trek through the ample and lush lenga forests, crossing by old glacial moraines, formed by the previous courses of the river. This will guide us into Torre Lagoon, where we’ll have the chance to spot a collection of wild flowers and some bird species, indigenous only to Patagonia;, such as the Magellanic Woodpecker: recognizable by its elegant, bright red crest.
During this tour experience, it’s not uncommon to see icebergs bobbing up and down at Laguna Torre, as a result of gravity taking the reins and beckoning them off of the face of the Torre glacier.
We’ll also visit the Agostini campground, used by climbers from all over the world as a starting point for their, adrenaline-pumping adventures.
After enjoying our lunch-box at the lagoon shore and this truly unique natural setting, we’ll venture back to El Chalten on same the path from whence we came, full of new memories, and feeling invigorated by the fresh Patagonian air.
Since you’ll be doing this tour with your own private guide, you’ll be able to enjoy each attraction at your own pace; making all of the stops you want while enjoying personalized assistance and care from your expert guide who will make any tour customization needed to help you make the most out of this trekking experience.
Important: the tour’s exact itinerary and duration may change subject to weather conditions and decisions of the tour guide to optimize your tour experience.
Difficulty: moderate. Trek distance: 12.5 miles (20 kilometers). Elevation gain: 2600 feet (800 meters). The hardest part of this trek is the ascent of the last 1300 feet (400 meters). As this is a private tour, if that last trail is too demanding for you, we’ll follow another easier and flat trail we also use. The highest elevation reached is 4000 feet (1200 meters).
Duration: full day (approximately 8 to 10 hours is the usual duration, depending on your pace).
Guide: private trekking guide.
Vehicle: private vehicle for the initial transfer to Puente del Rio Electrico, to start your trek. Starting the trek from Puente del Rio Electrico is a huge advantage for this trekking experience because it allows you to return to El Chalten by a different trekking route than the one you’ll take on your way to Laguna de Los Tres (the furthest point of this hike). If you don’t start from Puente del Rio Electrico, you’ll have to go and return through the same trekking route, also missing some important highlights.
Includes: lunch-box and bottled water.
